ENTRY 04 - 01/01/2024
my honest reaction to Scott Pilgrim vs The World (2010)
!SPOILERS AHEAD (obviously)!
I already knew the main idea of this movie before I watched it, but I still think it was definitely worth watching. This movie talks about Scott, a 23 year old in Toronto who is dating a 17 year old girl named Knives. However, when Scott falls in love with a girl named Ramona, his life completely changes.
I loved this movie from head to toe. I really liked all the evil exes (my favorites and mathew, todd and gideon), and of course I loved Scott and Ramona too (even though they're both kinda shitty people), but what surprised me the most is that characters like Wallace or Scott's sister still got various moments of screentime, despite not being the center of the story. However I think the amount of screentime between the 7 exes wasn't divided very fairly, for example we have almost no information about the japanese twins Ramona dated. I suppose it makes sense because some exes were more important than others, but still, I would love to know these twins a bit more deeply.
I loved the soundtrack. Brie larson's adaptation of the song Black Sheep is memorable, it got totally stuck in my head, as well as Mathew's incredible theme song (his demon hipster chicks are so cool!). The songs played by Scott's band, sex bo-bomb, were amazing too, and my favorite of them is "Garbage truck".
To be very honest, I don't have almost any complains with this movie because I think the ending was cute but it was also hopeful, and most important of all it made sense (no country for old men take notes). I really liked the misterious door that Ramona and Scott walked into, it reminds me of how everyday we take a step towards the future, and that sometimes we must close a door to open a window (am i getting emotional cus it's new years?). I think the only thing i didn't really like was gideon's actor. It's a very superficial problem, but he's just ugly (in my view of course), in the comics gideon looks much better. I also think I look a bit like yung neil too, that was a funny thing, because I basically act the same as him irl.
Concluding, I loved this movie, and I recently ordered the 3rd volume of the original comics (volume 1 and 2 were sold out....). I can't wait to make another entry about the comics!
Thank you for reading!
